Mrs. Janice Duncan

I have been teaching for 32 years with experience in both Kentucky and Tennessee. I have taught many different classes in the course of my career including Biology, AP Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Physical Science, Chemistry, Earth Science, AP Environmental Science, and Ecology. I have also taught behavior modification, English 1, 3 and 4 and resource middle school language arts under the special education department. I additionally taught two years at Rivendell of Kentucky which is a mental health treatment facility for adolescents. While teaching at Rivendell was not in my master plan, it turned out to be immeasurably beneficial in my development as a teacher. My undergraduate major in Biology and minor in Psychology was earned at Western Kentucky University in 1989. My graduate work includes certification in Learning and Behavior Disorders from WKU as well as a Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas Arlington and an EDS in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University.

I've sponsored many clubs and activities, coached cheerleaders and academic teams, served on several district wide committees and on school based decision making councils (in Kentucky). I love working with students and strive each day to address the needs of the whole child, not just my content. It is my privilege to have access to such wonderful young people. This is my life's calling. Currently we are in the process of adding a shade structure to our outdoor learning area here at Clinch. We are hopeful of securing a new greenhouse for use in our classes as well.

I am married to Paul and we care for my mother-in-law who has Alzheimer's. We have 6 children--just like the Brady Bunch :). I also have 7 wonderful grandchildren. They are the joy of my heart and being a grandmother is the GRANDEST thing I've ever accomplished. IYKYK In my spare time I enjoy singing, working in my gardens, raising pigs and chickens and learning more about whole foods cooking and nutrition, permaculture, and other holistic practices.

SHADE STRUCTURE

We are in the process of procuring and installing a shade structure for our outdoor learning area. If you would like to volunteer your time in assisting in this endeavor, please call the school and ask for Mrs. Duncan or email at janice.duncan@hck12.net.

New Construction

Clinch School is getting a building addition! Since we are adding a shop area for our Career Technical Education department, our current raised bed garden must be moved. If you would like to volunteer your time in assisting in this endeavor, please call the school and ask for Mrs. Duncan or email at janice.duncan@hck12.net.
